I used to keep about 5 budgies. All died within a year. No luck with budgies.

That was 20 years ago. Probably due to my lack of knowledge in bird keeping. I had a Red Lory, 2 tiels and a bunch of budgies.
The Lory was drowned while taking bath in a pail, a tiel died, another flew away and the budgies died one by one.

A long time ago, my dad made a big cage in the garden of the house. The cage was covered with asbestos ceiling sheet as roof. There was a gap in between the asbestos ceiling sheet and the top of the cage. My Lory never liked to be caged regardless whether in a small or big cage. He would scream endlessly unless you let him out. He always hung out under the roof of the cage, never attempted to go anywhere throughout the whole day. My mom liked to place a few pails next to the cage to collect rain water to flush the toilet. My Lory loved to climbed down to the pail to take bath. One day my mom used some of the water and that poor little fella couldn't climbed up and drowned when he went down to the pail to take bath.

Nowadays I spray my CAG or take shower under the shower head in the bathroom. No more pail la.
